The late Yogi Berra, professional Baseball Catcher, Manager and Coach, is credited for the expression, “the future ain’t what it used to be”. A catchy phrase that tells us that we have little idea as to what is coming our way. It could never be truer than right now. The old world order, already on its way out since its foundation in the wake of the second world war, has now been dealt a death blow by the global Lockdown associated with the Corona virus. A new world order is about to emerge.  Read “Succeeding in Tomorrow’s World” which gives direction on how to be prepared for this new order here.

Until fairly recently the future was an extrapolation of the past. Until the mid-1990s change came at a slow enough rate that it could be seen coming and planned for. Its implementation was over a period of years, with leaders who would be the first to adopt the change and prove its worth; and laggards who would later reluctantly accept the change that had now become the norm. More recently change has been exploding at a mind boggling rate, with no prior announcement and being applied to the world population in one fell swoop. It has not been confined to business, but across the board, including the world of medicine, transport, social networks and climate change. Read Succeeding in Tomorrow’s Worldwhich puts focus on basic values that will hold true through all change, such that each of your initiatives is always a building block for the next here.

Traditional advice on achieving success no longer applies; that world no longer exists. So how do we ensure that we come out on top in the new world order? The speed of the change on all fronts means there are no proven methods, no tried and tested formulae. This is a good thing; it means we now look inwardly; act according to our intuitive values. We must be realistic about our strengths and weaknesses. This is our start point. As in Succeeding in Tomorrow’s World”, our decision making must be aligned to these core values and our strengths. In that way we will never need to backtrack, as each decision will be taking us in the direction we want to go, because we are choosing the path that appeals to us, rather than following some redundant formulae or chasing some artificial goal.
